How To Prepare For Your PMU Procedure

Whether you are preparing for your first permanent makeup procedure or you’re a seasoned pro well on your beauty journey, below is a reminder of the pre-care instructions for how to prepare for your appointment. It is your responsibility and it is imperative that you follow all pre-care so you can set yourself up for the best possible outcome.

In addition to these instructions, here is a timeline of other things to stop/avoid before & after your permanent makeup procedure:

-Discontinue retinols/retinoids on and about one inch around the area where you are getting permanent makeup ONE month prior and ONE month after. We actually recommend avoiding retinols/retinoids on this area indefinitely after getting permanent makeup, as it can lead to uneven/premature fading of your permanent makeup

-Discontinue fish oil and vitamin E ONE week prior to your procedure 

-Discontinue use of nicotine products TWO weeks prior and TWO weeks after permanent makeup

PREP FOR ACTUAL PROCEDURE APPOINTMENTS (NOT CONSULTATIONS):

ALL Services:

For the pre-care, please be sure to avoid caffeine, alcohol, and ibuprofen for the 24 hours before your appointment, and refrain from rigorous exercise the day of. Please come without any makeup on the area where we’ll be doing the procedure, and bring your photo ID for us to scan if it is your first session. 

Additional Instructions for Lip Blush:

It is imperative that you come to your appointment with well-hydrated, un-chapped lips, or else we may not be able to do the procedure. 

For the three days prior to your appointment, please be sure to drink water to stay adequately hydrated, exfoliate your lips with a lil scrub (can be homemade with sugar and honey, etc), and use a hydrating lip balm. 

Additional Instructions for Lash Enhancement Eyeliner:

If you wear contact lenses, please come without your contact lenses in, and plan to keep them out for two days following the procedure.
